Part of my summer 2025 experience was the returning to Cortona Sessions for New Music (CSNM) for a beautiful second year of inspiring experiences among like-minded new music enthusiasts. I had the privilege of meeting composer Brendan Sweeney at my first CSNM in 2023, and I was very glad to connect with him more so at this year’s Sessions! During the Sessions, I had the opportunity to study and perform his saxophone quartet piece Unfurl (written for ~Nois)… I just knew I had to work with him to produce a solo work.
This solo work seeks to explores finding oneself, whether that relates to the initial pursuit or the backtracking required to find oneself again after having been lost. It has been a topic that has shrouded my thoughts over the past year of self-reflection, and I am honored to embark on this journey with Dr. Sweeney. Premiere information is TBD, more forthcoming!
